چکیده

There is an error within the fourth sentence of the Abstract. The correct sentence is: Transgenic mice (Cg-Tg(PDGFB-APPSwInd)20Lms/2J) and their non-transgenic litter mate genetic controls were treated with lithium carbonate (0.25mg/Kg/day in drinking water) for 16 or 8 months starting at two and ten months of age, respectively. There is an error within the first sentence of the second paragraph of the Results and Discussion section. The correct sentence is: Lithium was administered as lithium carbonate in the dose 0.25 mg/Kg/day.

Chronic Microdose Lithium Treatment Prevented Memory Loss and Neurohistopathological Changes in a Transgenic Mouse Model of Alzheimer's Disease.

The use of lithium is well established in bipolar disorders and the benefits are being demonstrated in neurodegenerative disorders. Recently, our group showed that treatment with microdose lithium stabilized the cognitive deficits observed in Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. In order to verify the lithium microdose potential in preventing the disease development, the aim of this work was to v...

Beneficial synergistic effects of microdose lithium with pyrroloquinoline quinone in an Alzheimer's disease mouse model

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complicated, neurodegenerative disorder involving multifactorial pathogeneses and still lacks effective clinical treatment. Recent studies show that lithium exerts disease-modifying effects against AD. However, the intolerant side effects at conventional effective dosage limit the clinical use of lithium in treating AD. To explore a novel AD treatment strategy with...

Cholinergic neuropathology in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

Transgenic mice over-expressing mutant human amyloid precursor protein (PDAPP mouse) develop several Alzheimer’s disease (AD)-like lesions including an age-related accumulation of amyloid-?-containing neuritic plaques. Although aged, heterozygous PDAPP mice also exhibit synaptic and glial cell changes, that is characteristic of AD pathology, no evidence of neurodegeneration has been observed. T...

P 106: Effects of Dimethyl Sulfoxide on NLRP3 Inflammasome and Alzheimer\'s Disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most ordinary form of dementia and extracellular accumulation of Amyloid-β (Aβ) in senile plaques, is an important and a main event in the pathogenesis of AD. Deposition of Aβ Peptide initiates a spectrum of cellular responses that are interposed by the resident neuroimmune cells of the brain, the microglia. Recently, a novel inflammasome signaling&n...
